    Originally designed to celebrate my youngest turning five, it soon became clear that this sweater needed to become a part of my wardrobe too! The Owen Sweater is a four color, stranded yoke design with contrasting hem and cuffs. Knit in Plucky Knitter Beauregard, this unisex pattern is worked seamlessly from the top-down, and offers sizing options from child through adult.

    GAUGE
    Note: Stranded St st gauge varies from knitter to knitter. It’s recommended that you work a gauge swatch in both plain and stranded St st; you may need to adjust the needle size used for stranded St st in order to achieve the stated gauge.
    • 21 sts and 28 rnds = 4” / 10 cm in St st and in stranded St st, blocked, using larger needle

    NEEDLES
    • Gauge Needle: Size US 5 (3.75 mm) 16” / 40 cm and 24” / 60 cm or longer circular needles and DPNs—or size necessary to obtain gauge
    • Smaller Needle: Size US 4 (3.5 mm) 16” / 40 cm and 24” / 60 cm or longer circular needles and DPNs—or one size smaller than gauge needle

    TOOLS
    Stitch markers, waste yarn or stitch holders, and tapestry needle

    NOTES
    • Piece is knit in the round from the top down.
    • Yoke is worked to the underarms, with short-row shaping to shape the lower back Yoke, then Body and Sleeves are divided. • Sleeves are placed on hold while the Body is worked in the round to the bottom edge, then Sleeves are worked in the round to the cuff.
    • Charts are worked in St st (knit every round).
    • For short rows, Sample shown uses Japanese short row in the round.
